The addition, done in the 1940’s art deco style, connecting to this turn of the century traditional farmhouse was an enormous shift to the design style and flow to this home. The hole under this entry window in the addition was a Koi Pond at one time. It was removed and fortunately, the contractor was able to replace the marble flooring to perfection.

The challenge.... This turn of the century stone farmhouse took an incredible turn in the 1940's when a spectacular addition was made in the art deco style. Confusing? Yes. A challenge to marry these two very different styles? Yes.
This home as we found it, featured 8' and 18' ceilings, an interior entry way equipped with a dirt filled former koi pond, gorgeous arches, hand-carved italian marble fireplace mantles, beautiful exterior stone walls and established gardens, a concealed money and gun vault, original deco style fixtures, wrought iron exterior accents, stucco and stone exterior finishes and a marble grand staircase that was original to a ship in the Spanish Armada. All of this was done by a very controversial figure in the DC area's history. Renovations have concluded, interior finishes and furniture installation is now underway. Enjoy the before and after photos and see the transformative journey we have experienced! More progress photo updates coming soon!
